Continental Airlines, the airline based in Houston, has lessened its flights frequency to Mexico by 50%. Due to a decrease in demand for flights to and from Mexico, Continental Airlines has reduced its flight frequency. On the other hand, Continental Airlines will continue to serve all 29 of its destinations in Mexico by making use of smaller airliner due to the reduction of its flights. However, until the 31st May 2009, passengers flying with Continental Airlines will be able to change their air tickets without penalty due to a change in the schedule of flights to and from Mexico.

Since Friday 20th March 2009, the American national airline, Continental Airlines is offering daily non stop flights departing from Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Thus, as from summer 2009, Continental Airlines, the airline base in Houston is proposing new route between New Orleans and Rio de Janeiro. Continental Airlines is looking forward to make use of a Boeing 767-200, with a capacity of 25 passengers available in BusinessFirst and 149 seats obtainable in Economy to accomplish the daily non stop flight.
To avoid the disturbance of the schedule of other flights proposed by Continental Airlines from its main hub in Houston to cities throughout the U.S, Canada, Europe, Asia and Latin America, the schedule of the non stop flights proposed between Houston and Rio de Janeiro will be timed for the smooth running of the other flights.
