Singapore Airline the carrier with hub at Changi airport is now offering new flights departing from Changi Airport Terminal 3 to Hong Kong International Airport on its Airbus A380. Singapore Airlines flight SQ 856 will depart from Changi at 09.50 to arrive in Hong Kong at 13.30 and Singapore Airlines flight SQ861 will then take off from Hong Kong at 16.00 to reach in Singapore at 19.40. Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 also flies to Sydney, London, Tokyo and Paris. Singapore Airlines was considered to be the first carrier to operate the Airbus A380 in October 2007. Singapore Airlines has currently a 9 Airbus A380 in its fleet. Singapore Airlines A380 to Hong Kong also offers Business Class Pitch.

Cathay Pacific Airways, the flag carrier of Hong-Kong has launched some preventive measures for the health and safety of its passengers and employees due to the recent alert 5 of the epidemic disease Influenza A. Moreover, Cathay Pacific Airways Awareness for Influenza A (H1N1) preventive measures consist of protecting its passengers, i.e. the airline has proper measures in place to assist cabin crew if a passenger onboard is suspected to have the Influenza A symptoms. However, Cathay Pacific Airways always keep on the high standard of cleanliness in its aircraft cabins, seats, galleys and restrooms so as to prevent the disease to spread inside the aircraft.

Cathay Pacific states cost-reduction measures

The national airline of Hong-Kong, Cathay Pacific has stated that it will reduce its cost due to a severe business downturn. However, following the deterioration of the business conditions, Cathay Pacific is looking forward to apply some cost-reduction measures i.e. as from May 2009, Cathay Pacific will reduce its passengers capacity by 8% and the general cargo capacity by 11%. Moreover, Cathay Pacific will reduce its flights frequencies and seat capacity to destinations such as London, Paris, Frankfurt, Sydney, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, Mumbai and Dubai. Furthermore, to reduce its cost Cathay Pacific is proposing to its employees a ‘Special Leave Scheme’ i.e. Cathay Pacific staff will be asked to take unpaid leave fluctuating from one to four weeks according to their superiority.
